Good evening, friends and family!
So glad to see the sun finally come out today! What a dreary few days we had last week, but hopefully we will be able to get lots of time outside this next week. I think we all deserve it after being cooped up for a week.
What a great time we had at school the last few days! We had an amazing Valentine's party, and got to have snack with our friends in Ms. Christy's room. So many fun new toys and friends to play with. What a treat! We finished up our communication lesson by looking at phones and computers. We did lots of counting, saying our ABC's, and sending "Emails" to Mommy and Daddy on Ms. Whitney's computer. We did miss our sweet friend Xavier the last few days, and we are hoping he is
back tomorrow to participate in a fun week.
We will be looking at the fun world of fantasy this week! First, we will look at nursery rhymes, switch to magic, and end with Fairytale's. There will be lots of pretending this week, as well as reading and acting out parts. I am wondering if any of you have any fun magic stuff we could use, princess dress up clothes, and any kind of fun age appropriate Fairytale stuff. If you do, please bring it. The more the merrier. We will be doing lots of fun activities, but the more fun stuff from home the better! I will be incorporating a lot of fun art projects, as always.
I hope that you have all had a wonderful weekend, and I can't wait to see the smiling faces that make my MWF so much better.
Ms. Whitney
Good evening!
SNOW, SNOW, SNOW! Wow, it is really coming down outside. Something about watching snow makes me feel like I'm a kid again. :)
Just wanted to touch base about our party tomorrow. We will be exchanging Valentine's with our sweet little class. First thing in the morning we will decorate bags to put all of our lovely stuff in. Then we will have our fun exchange. I figured each of my friends could bring their own snack like always. I am bringing something special, but if you had a fun treat planned please send it! We will be learning all different ways to say I love you tomorrow, and sweet ways to show love for our friends. We
will also be spending time together as a school , but probably inside since it is so cold! Can't wait to have a fun day of learning, and giving!
Hope you guys have a wonderful night, and I will see my sweet Valentines in the morning!
Ms. Whitney
Good morning!
How nice it is to have some chilly weather. I like it feeling a bit seasonal, although I was beginning to get used to sunny and beautiful. We had a really fun time this last week at school. We talked all about Robots, and shapes! My friends are getting so good at knowing their shapes. We also made our very own robots! We used the foil we crumbled and painted on Monday, and then glued all kinds of things to our cans. I think they turned out really great! Friday was a special day. We talked all about the circus, but because of the rain we didn't get the fun visit we were planning on. I do know that we all enjoyed looking out the window and watching how much it was raining!
This week we will talk about
communication. We are going to go back over our feelings, look at sign language, see how well we can share, and make some fun postcards to send out to someone special! I am going to incorporate lots of fun textures into our activities this week. Next Monday will be our Valentine's Day party, but there will be more information to come about that.
I hope you all had a very nice weekend, and can't wait to see your smiling faces.
Ms. Whitney
Good evening, all!
I hope you had a lovely weekend, and that all of my friends are ready for another super fun week at school! Last week we learned all about construction and building things. We painted with legos, counted how many boxes it took to build something bigger than us, used our hands to squeeze lots of glue from bottles, and used our toys to build big sand mounds in our sensory center. The kids have really been exploring all kinds of things we can stack, and how easy it is to knock them over. ;) Friday brought a super special guest! Mr. Ryan came and showed us what he does at work everyday. He brought the big tractor he drives, and some of us got to try on his gear. My girls and I played in the back yard and watched from afar. We will
continue on this unit by looking at robots this week! I can imagine some super awesome dancing will come out of it as well. So, if any of you have some fun robot things, or fun things we could build with please feel free to bring them by.
Stay tuned for a special treat that might happen on Friday!
See you in the morning!
Ms. Whitney
Good morning to my friends and families!
Hope you guys enjoyed the long weekend. It was beautiful, but if everyone is struggling with their allergies as much as me I'm sure it was a bit annoying too.
We had a wonderful time at school this last week! Our first full week back and my friends did so well. It helps that our theme has been things that move. I can tell that everyone is enjoying learning and playing with all of our trucks, trains, and cars. We first learned about all things that fly! Airplanes, helicopters, and even bumblebees! Ms. Kuniko and I have made roads and train tracks in the classroom, so when we got to trucks and cars we had lots of space to drive them around! We counted the wheels, looked at color, and even
sorted them into cars trucks and planes. That day, it was so beautiful outside. We took all of our 4 wheeled toys, went outside, and painted a giant mural of wheels. Our friends on Tues/Thurs are going to add to it. I can't wait to see the finished product. On Friday we concentrated on trains! We even made our very own train cars with crayons and stickers. Our PDO train is now complete! We also had community circle on Friday! Ms. Christina's husband, Ryan, came with his friends and we had an African Drum Circle! Xay was really getting into, and so was Clemmie!
This week we will continue our theme about Things That Move! Wednesday will be all about buses, and then on Friday we are going to go on a trip together. We will have lots of fun sensory activities using sponges, and a fun game about packing a suitcase. :) Can't wait to get started.
I will see you all tomorrow. Hope you don't get blown away today!
Ms. Whitney
Hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend! I know I did.
We had a great week back at school. I was so excited to see everyone, and see that all of my friends were just as excited to be back. We learned about some winter things this last week. Tuesday we talked about things you might eat and drink when it is cold. I'm A Little Tea Pot was sung and danced to lots that day! We explored what tea bags look and smell like, and had some "hot tea" of our own. On Friday, we explored ice skating with scarves, and throwing scarf snow balls. I found it crazy to be talking about snow when it was 70 degrees outside!
For our next unit we will be talking about things that go and going on a trip. This week we will concentrate on Planes,
Trains, and Automobiles. Next week we will take a little vacation together. :) Can't wait to try out some new sorting games, and of course fun artwork. We will also be making our very own PDO Train! I know this will be a unit that all of my sweet friends enjoy. I'm looking forward to a very eventful next couple of weeks.
Again, so glad to see everyone back and I hope you had a lovely weekend. See you in the morning!
Ms. Whitney
Good evening and Happy New Year!
I hope all of my sweet friends had great Holiday with their familes! I know that I did. It was so nice to have time with family and friends, but I am ready to get back to all the fun stuff at school. This week we will talk about the winter season, and get familiar with school again. I'm sure that two weeks away from class can seem like a long time, but I know that we will have tons of fun this week. Hopefully all of my friends are as excited to come back as I am!
Can't wait to see all the sweet smiling faces that I have missed. :)
Ms. Whitney
Happy Holidays!
I can hardly believe that our first semester together is coming to an end! What a huge leap all of my sweet friends have made. It makes my heart very happy and brings a huge smile to face to think about all that we have accomplished. I am so excited to start challenging myself and all my kids in brand new ways next semester!
The last couple weeks in class we have had a wonderful time learning about the winter holidays. We have discussed the weather changing, and melting ice with warm water. We painted with shaving cream and made beautiful winter landscapes, and you can't have colder weather without Frosty the Snowman! This last week we talked about our families and some traditions we have over the holidays. We
decorated our class room with our fun Silver Tree, and our big green tree. We have made wreaths that we need to finish. They are compiled of paint, glitter, and wrapping paper we have torn. This week we are adding sticks we collected on the ground and pictures of our families during the holidays. So if all of my parents could bring holiday pictures of your families that would be great. It will be a lovely addition to your decorations at home!
This week we will continue our winter holidays talks. Rudolf will make an appearance, and just maybe Santa Claus! Don't forget the family pics so you can proudly hang the sweet little wreaths we have made.
We will be on Winter Break for two weeks. The dates are from December 17th-January 2nd. I will not see all of you after this week until Wednesday, Jan 4th, 2012.
Again, I have
enjoyed this semester so much! I feel so lucky to get to share a little part of my day with my sweet friends. I hope I have been able to touch them as much as they have touched me!
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
xoxo,
Ms. Whitney
PS My New Years Resolution is to keep up with this blog in 2012. Keep a look out for more information every week after the Winter Break!
Howdy Partners!
Happy Halloween! :) Looks like we are going to have wonderful weather for all our little spooks. I hope that everyone had as much fun at the parties this last week as I did!
This week our theme is "Way out West". It is all about anything western. So, what a better time to have another Cornerstone Community Circle than now! This Friday, November 4th, I will be leading a big square dance and hoe down at 11:30 am in Perish Hall. Please, feel free to send your kids all decked out in whatever western wear they might have. They will be learning line dances, The Cotton Eyed Joe, and most of all having a rootin' tootin' good ole time! Any kids that come to school on Tues/Thurs are welcome to
attend. The more the merrier!
If you have any questions just come and find me at school! Can't wait to see all of our cowboys and cowgirls together on Friday.
YeeeeeHaaaaaaw!
Ms Whitney
Good evening, to all of my friends!
I was so happy to see everyone's smiling faces after the weekend. We have not all been together in a while because of colds and other circumstances! I had a great trip to New York, but was ready to get back to Texas and Cornerstone! I got us a special book that I plan to read very soon.
On Friday the other teachers and I went to the TAEYC Conference. It was so great to get advice from other teachers, ideas for the classroom, and spend lots of great time with the other teachers! It did make me realize how lucky we are at Cornerstone! Our kids, parents, and teachers are one of a kind. :)
The first few weeks we spent on learning about one
another and ourselves. It was so fun to find out about everyone's families, and become friends. I hope that all my friends are having as much
fun
as I am at school! The next two weeks we will be focusing on Our unit of "Staying Safe". This will include learning about fire fighters, policemen, rules, and helping each other. If any of you have firemen and policemen dress up clothes please feel free to bring them. That would be such a great way to get them excited about our unit.
As always, please feel free to email me with any questions. See you all on Wednesday!
Hugs,
Ms. Whitney
